Originally the home of Broadway Methodist Episcopal Church of Somerville, this 111-year old former sanctuary has been the
primary address of The Elizabeth Peabody House for more than 30 years. It’s here that the historic 115-year old institution houses its preschool, after-school enrichment program, and food pantry.
As the most trafficked and aged building of the organization's three campuses, this former house of worship features beautiful stained glass windows. And while aesthetically pleasing, many of their panes are cracked or missing, making it a drafty and less-than-wholesome environment.
This project hopes to raise dollars to install 10 environmentally-friendly double-paned thermal windows. That way, The Elizabeth Peabody House will continue to preserve the aesthetic beauty of the building, teach its children about conserving energy through environmental stewardship, and increase the comfort of the families it serves.
The mission of The Elizabeth Peabody House is to support families in the Somerville community in reaching their full potential through early childhood education, youth development and enrichment, and family. For more information, visit the The Elizabeth Peabody House website.
