SolSolution -- a nonprofit dedicated to generating clean, renewable electricity in underprivileged schools -- is tackling its pilot school project: It’s working to install solar power at Aruna’s Place in Sudbury, Mass.
By adopting SolSolution’s Education Power Purchase Agreement (E-PPA), the school could use electricity generated from the installation of a 3.24 kW solar PV system through a 20-year agreement.
SolSolution provides solar energy services and educational funding to America’s underprivileged schools by affixing solar panels to roofs as well as selling solar-generated electricity back to schools and reinvesting excess funds from its business activity into the school’s infrastructure.
The nonprofit is pioneering the Educational Power Purchase Agreement (E-PPA) model by combining the for-profit Solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with a simple mechanism to provide educational funding to schools. Under this agreement, schools purchase carbon-free electricity generated from the on-site grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) solar systems; protect themselves against rising energy costs by locking in electricity pricing for 30 plus years; and receive additional funds for educational resources.
We'll be adding photos and videos from the project to our blog so check back soon!
