More about the project

The First Parish in Brookline is taking on three small green energy projects. It's replacing three toilets and a sink to save water, and installing attic insulation and new storm windows to save on energy costs.

The water conservation project is expected to save the parish 320,000 gallons of water in the next 20 years. In addition, the added attic insulation will lower the parish's carbon footprint by 376,250 pounds and the new windows will reduce its footprint by another 13,404 pounds.

My 86-year old dad was an environmentalist before anyone was using that term. We were raised with a great respect for the physical world and the sense of responsibility to protect it.

Living green means taking concrete steps at home and in the community. Retrofitting our ancient building to save energy is an investment in the future and a way to refine our use of money. What we don't burn, we can spend to teach children, sustain our members, and advance social justice.
