New Generation Energy Launches Enhanced Renewable Energy Investment Notes for New England

New Generation Energy (NGE) today announced that it has launched an enhanced version of its Renewable Energy Investment Note (REIN) program for the six states of New England. These newly updated REINs lower the minimum purchase from $5,000 to $1,000, and offer variable note terms from one to seven years.

Renewable Energy Investment Notes are unique because they allow socially conscious investors to directly support the creation of community-based renewable energy projects in the areas of solar, wind, efficiency, and biomass. By purchasing a REIN, investors make it possible for NGE to fund green energy projects that have a high level of environmental, economic, health, and neighborhood-enhancement benefits.

What are REINs?

Renewable Energy Investment Notes are fixed interest, fixed term, investment notes that are offered in denominations from $1,000 to $1,000,000 and higher. The term of the note can be selected from 1 year to 7 years, and each term has a corresponding interest rate as shown in the table. 

Purchasing a REIN is easy. You can download a complete prospectus, or call or write NGE for one. Once you have decided to invest, you simply fill out the subscription form in the prospectus and mail to NGE. Select the investment amount, which can be any whole dollar amount $1,000 or greater, the term in years, and fill in the corresponding interest from the table above. 

Each year that you own a REIN you will receive an annual statement that tells you how much interest you have earned, and how NGE is investing your REIN funds to create more clean energy in the US. We work hard to invest in projects that help communities by generating jobs, improving health, and positively impacting the environment. REINs support 100% clean energy technologies like solar photo voltaic, solar thermal, biomass, wind, and efficiency improvement.

What happens when a REIN is purchased? 

When you purchase a REIN you help America’s communities become greener and more energy independent. NGE believes that America’s future energy production should come from 100% renewable sources. NGE supports local energy production because it eliminates wasteful losses during transmission and provides community access to affordable clean energy. We strongly support efficiency, as it is often the most cost effective way to go green, and because it creates local green jobs. REINs Fund Green

REIN funds go to projects like the one at Boston Green Building, Inc (BGB) , a small business in Allston, MA specializing in sustainable contracting and design.

BGB wanted to build a 3.8KW solar photovoltaic (PV) array that would generate clean energy, reduce grid usage, and eliminate over 110,000 lbs of carbon emissions. The project would also be the first commercial installation in the working-class neighborhood of Allston.

Despite these incredible plusses,  BGB couldn't finance the project - Until they heard about NGE. Using funds from the REIN program, NGE arranged affordable financing and got the project back on track.

REINs support businesses like Boston Green Building, as well as schools, health clinics, churches, and other community organizations.
