We're looking for a spring  2012 intern!

NGE relies on hardworking, talented, and creative interns to help with community outreach programs, project research, and digital marketing campaigns. These hands-on positions give students valuable insight into the renewable energy field.

We require a 16 to 20 hours a week commitment. Internships are unpaid. Course or co-op credit can be provided depending on the program.

The office is at 98 N. Washington Street in Boston -- between Haymarket and North Station MBTA stations.

Green marketing and research intern

:
Key responsibilities:

The green marketing and research intern will be responsible for helping manage the NGE website and blog. The intern will help create original content and promote it on various social media platforms -- including Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn -- and other green energy blogs. The ideal candidate will have reporting, research, and photography experience as well as familiarity with AP style and blog writing.

The person will also assist the marketing director with press releases, media pitches, and community and business outreach. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and dedicated person who is willing to take extra steps to get the job done.

Requirements:
  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or related fields
  • OUTSTANDING writing and verbal communication skills
  • Basic photography and/or graphic design knowledge
  • Familiar with -- and active on -- Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn
  • Familiar with blogging platforms (WordPress, Blogger, etc.)
  • Fast learner of technology
  • Ability to work independently

 

Additional desired skills:

  • Previous writing internships, preferably online
  • Blogging experience
  • Previous experience at a nonprofit organization
  • Interest in green energy and the environment

 

 

Green technology research intern

:
Key responsibilities:

The green technology research intern will be primarily responsible for preparing project data sheets.  These data sheets include calculations for energy savings and carbon emissions reductions resulting from NGE-supported projects. The intern will also be responsible for preparing reference guides -- such as our lighting reference guide -- that explore green technologies.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and dedicated person who is willing to take extra steps to get the job done.

 

Requirements:
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in a STEM field, economics, or other quantitative area
  • Interest in green technologies, energy efficiency, and the environment
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to a variety of audiences
  • Outstanding writing and verbal communication skills
  • Fast learner of technology
  • Ability to work independently
