New Generation Energy provides direct grants to support green energy projects at USābased 501(C)(3) nonprofit organizations. Grant amounts are between $2,000 and $50,000, although smaller as well as larger grants can be provided in exceptional circumstances.
Any 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization may apply. This includes family shelters, community centers, schools, universities, churches, and more. All projects must be located in the United States.
Proposed projects should have a measurable, or estimatable economic and environmental outcome after completion. The types of green energy projects that may be funded include efficiency upgrades such as weatherization, lighting improvements, Energy Star appliances, ground source heat pumps, and green energy generation such as solar PV, solar hot water, wind, and geothermal.
All listed projects should result in reduced use of electricity, fuel, or water, either through efficiency improvements, or through clean energy generation.
NGE prioritizes funding for green energy projects that have strong, credible, energy metrics, have a clear plan for project oversight and completion, are located at organizations with strong community oriented missions, and may create 'green domino' effects within the local community by incorporating education and outreach into the project to extend the visibility and impact of the proposed project.
