Thank you for your support! This project was fully funded Dec. 15, 2011.
After an extremely successful fundraising effort for its geothermal installation project, the Pleasant Hill Community Church, United Church of Christ in Pleasant Hill, Tenn. is ready to tackle its next green project.
The church is now raising money for solar control low-emissivity (low-e) glass to install in its windows and doors. This type of glass is spectrally selective, which means it reduces the amount of heat transferred through the windows and minimizes the effect of outdoors temperatures on the building's interior.
This project is expected to save the church $41,877 and 577,368 lbs of carbon over its lifetime. Combined with the geothermal installation, that is a total of $142,397 and 2,386,728 lbs of carbon saved by this church's green energy projects.
Located in the small town of Pleasant Hill, Tenn. -- population 563 -- the Pleasant Hill Community Church, UCC has 274 members.
